it's no secret that i <3 emily haines ...err i mean metric. one of my favorite bands to watch throw down a rock and roll show. ...yes i hold metric and bob mould in the virtually the same light. i spotted this behind the scenes version of the new video during one of my many wankfests ...i mean viewings of the regular version of the video. watching them shoot this in ONE TAKE was the best. can't wait til they hit town on this trip ... i'll be right there drooling.
for those of you who have been asking for copies of pictures from misc sporting events or shows ...i'm sorry ...i'm running a little bit behind on my processing of images.

i picked up a canon 430ex dirt cheap on kijiji ($185) and trekked up to henrys to buy a stand / umbrella mount / umbrella and cables for off camera lighting... i'll eventually go wireless with one of the cheap ebay (gadgetinfinity.com) radio trigger sets ...but for indoor purposes right now in my rehearsal room a 20ft flash sync cable does the trick.
i convinced steph to model for me ...i've been watching a bunch of off camera lighting dvds (thanks to strobist.com for the set of dvds / lectures and another dvd called 'one light photo techniques')
first few shots off the camera i was happy with ...
i received a note from the nice folks at schmap.com a few weeks ago stating that one of my deifenbunker images was shortlisted for inclusion in one of their tourism maps ... i heard back from their editor today and it turns out i was included in the onlne map site. i agreed to the free use of the image ...which links back to my flickr account.
select "photos' where it says map/photo on the left -- then scroll through the locations at the bottom (right side red arrows) to the deifenbunker ... mine's in there somewhere heheh
after fighting w/purolator all day they held my package at the depot so i could just go pick the damned thing up and bypass all delivery bullshit. the address was right on the package ..the driver was just a fucking moron and didn't actually COME to ste. 110 with the parcel.
20d arrived in fine shape ... lens is clean and tack sharp ...if they'd delivered it on time today i'd be at dodgeball right now with morris / steph taking pics with it ... instead i spend the night reading the manual and getting used to the different body design.

i receive a call in my office this morning at 930am - natalie from purolator customer service (supervisor apparently) contacted me to inform me my package is on the truck for delivery in kingston today. finally ... and i am assured that the shipping cost will be removed from our billing before the end of the month (so i put a note on my calendar to check our purolator bill to make sure i'm not payin' for this)

i wait til about 1115am ...no purolator driver yet ... past the 1030 delivery time ..i get anxious and check the shipping status again ... ADDRESS CORRECTION REQUIRED. WTF!! they confirmed the package desintation numerous times on the phone with me yesterday ... "how the fuck could they screw this up again?" i ask myself.
i call customer support and speak to Sandra ... she confirms my delivery address and says she'll send a msg to the supervisor (natalie) and place a message to the driver to get my pacakge here as the address is correct.
i await this call from natalie now to discuss how we benefit, in any way, from using purolator as our preferred courier.

I called tonight shortly before 5pm when our purolator driver hadn't shown up yet to the building ... they've started a trace but it can take a while to find a missing package (i insured it for the full value of the camera and lens just in case...thankfully)
i picked up a slightly used canon 20d (7k shots on it) and a sigma 20-40 f/2.8 from kijiji ...
paid $700 for the pair ... a great deal considering the lens goes for 600 around here (used) these days. looking forward to receiving it early next week (awaiting the tracking information now)
now all i need is a lighting set up... anyone selling anything let me know! i've been looking at alienbees gear since i did a shoot for jay with some a few months ago ...great gear for the price.
i can't wait to get my hands on my new toy ...it's driving me nuts waiting
a french website has asked to use one of my images for their article on radioactivity... i shot the geiger counter at the deifenbunker last summer while on vacation ...they found it through flickr.
